SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Oct. 27, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City police are investigating a Saturday morning shooting in the backyard of a home at 1061 S. 900 West.

Lt. Justin Hudson told Gephardt Daily police were called about 10:06 a.m. with reports of shots fired. When officers arrived, they found a wounded man lying behind the residence. Hudson said the man, who is thought to be in his 40s, tried to tell police what happened, but was unable to talk.

He was rushed by ground ambulance to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray where he was reported in critical, but stable condition. Doctors told police he is expected to survive.

Police are searching for up to four suspects who were seen running in different directions from the backyard of the home.

Hudson said police received valuable information from witnesses who just happened to be taking part in a domestic violence awareness march down the street from the shooting.

Investigators say they don’t believe the wounded man lived at the address where the shooting took place. They also believe the victim knew his attackers.

Police continued their search of the neighborhood into the afternoon. They say the only description they have is one suspect was wearing a gray jacket with gray pants and had a black hat on.

Gephardt Daily has a crew on the scene, and will have more details as information becomes available.
