$20K damage caused by blaze in Ogden apartment

OGDEN, Utah, May 8, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Ogden and Roy fire crews responded to a structure fire Wednesday evening in Ogden.

Firefighters were called to the scene, 630 23rd St., at about 6:45 p.m., a news release from the Ogden Fire Department says.

“Upon arrival, crews reported heavy fire and smoke coming from the window of the apartment. All occupants were able to safely exit the structure prior to fire department arrival.

“Crews were able to extinguish the fire from the outside of the structure and then make access into the apartment. The cause of the fire has not been determined and is under investigation by the office of the Fire Marshal. Initial Damage is estimated at $20,000.

Responding were 21 firefighters from the two departments, three ladder trucks, two engines, one paramedic rescue, one ambulance, one Deputy Fire Marshall and one Battalion chief, the statement says.

“One occupant is displaced as a result of the fire,” it said. “There are no injuries associated with this incident.”
