HEBER CITY, Utah, Dec. 18, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police in Heber City have taken four people into custody after a police pursuit ended in a crash in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Heber City Det. Tammy Thacker told Gephardt Daily that due to recent auto thefts and auto burglaries, police have increased their patrols in certain areas in an attempt to catch the suspects.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., a Heber City officer attempted to stop a small passenger car for failure to stop at a stop sign. The vehicle did not stop when the officer initiated the patrol vehicle’s lights and a pursuit ensued.

The suspect vehicle crashed, and two individuals were taken into custody while two remained at large.

Those two individuals were taken into custody later Tuesday morning.

The suspects have been identified as Lashelle M. Cordova, Brody Jay Winkler, Cole Morgan Watanuki and Michael Joseph Lopez. They have been arrested and booked on charges of burglary of a vehicle, theft by receiving stolen property, use or possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, possession of another’s identity documents, unlawful acquisition of a financial card without consent, criminal mischief and criminal conspiracy. All four were transported to Wasatch County Jail.

The four individuals were linked to auto burglaries that had occurred Monday night and some through the past two weeks. Other burglaries and auto thefts in multiple jurisdictions throughout Utah are also being investigated.
