Alpine School Bus Driver Transporting Special Needs Students Charged With DUI

SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah, April 28, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — An Alpine School District bus driver arrested in March on suspicion of driving under the influence has now been officially charged.

Sherry Lund, 52, has been charged with driving under the influence and five counts of reckless endangerment for an incident on March 8. She was transporting five special needs students to their homes, and passed out while waiting for an aide who had walked one of the students to their door.

The aide alerted the school district, which contacted Saratoga Springs police. Lund continued to drive for a couple more miles until police were able to stop initiate a traffic stop. Her blood alcohol level was over the limit.

Officials with the school district confirmed Lund was let go from her job with the district a few days after her arrest.

Lund had worked for the Alpine School District for nearly 20 years.
