Best April Fool’s Day Joke so Far? Especially for Utah Jazz Fans
Salt Lake City, Utah – April 1, 2015 -Gephardt Daily
Utah Jazz fans along with members of the NBA got a good joke today that had a few people really worried it might actually be true, but only for a moment.
According to NBA.com “The Utah Jazz are excited to announce an addition to the team’s uniform set. Beginning next season, the Jazz will be the first NBA team to officially introduce Three-Quarter Court Pants, which the team will feature during select games.”
It further states the the team wanted to expand on the sleeved-shirt style that a handful of NBA teams have incorporated this season and came up with the idea of court pants. They even went as far as to say they have hired Italian designer Giovanni Cavellini to “bring the court pants concept to life.”
Comments under their facebook page had some of Utah Jazz fans a little panicked at the thought their beloved team would be the laughing stock of the NBA.
Brittany Snodgrass commented “That’s awful. Bring back the short shorts please.” and Stephanie Turner wasn’t pleased either, ” Umm no. Ewww. Please let this be an April’s Fools joke!!”
Even our staff fell for the “joke” for a few minutes. We were unanimously decided the new uniforms were in fact “hideous” as many others have expressed in their comments as well.
One fan, Jasyn Pyne, eventually figured out the same thing we did and commented on the photo “Be sure to order them September 31st! Well done, Utah Jazz PR team! Much better April Fool’s effort than I’ve seen in the last several years.”
NBA.com gives it all way at the bottom of their page, “Fans can purchase official Utah Jazz Three-Quarter Court Pants beginning September 31, 2015.” A day that does not actually exist.
