WILLARD BAY, Utah, June 1, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — The body of a man missing since Saturday has been recovered from Willard Bay.
The victim was 27-year-old Isaac Maiquema Vasquez, from Ecuador, who had been riding a WaveRunner with the driver, who was wearing a life jacket, and a second passenger, who, like Vasquez, was not.
At about 5:15 p.m. Saturday, Vasquez went under the water. The search began immediately. The body of Vasquez was recovered at about 5:50 p.m. Monday.
“This is a tragic and unfortunate circumstance,” says a statement issued by Utah Natural Resources Law Enforcement. It added that the agency “extends condolences to family and friends. The incident remains under investigation at this time.”
The agency thanked the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue, the Weber County Sheriff Search and Rescue, and the Willard City Police Department “for their response to this incident,” the statement says.
