ROY, Utah, July 24, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — The Roy City Fire Department is asking residents who live along the railroad corridor to share any home security or doorbell camera recordings taken between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. July 20 that may be helpful in an analysis of the grassfire that destroyed three residences, damaged others, and caused the evacuation of approximately 200 residents.
The corridor is north of 4800 South, and includes the area along 2675 West and West Park Drive.
Due to the size and complexity of the scene, processing and investigation, the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands, in coordination with the Utah State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (ATF), are leading the investigation, with Roy City Fire assisting as requested.
“Anyone with relevant information is asked is encouraged to contact the ATF at 801-524-7070 or by email at [email protected]. Even information that may seen insignificant could prove valuable to investigators.
“Roy City appreciates the tremendous response from our firefighters, law enforcement officers, neighboring agencies, and community members who assisted during this incident.”
Roy City Fire said it will share updates as appropriate.
“Our thoughts remain with the families who have been impacted by this tragedy,” it added.
