Breaking: Dozens of residents evacuated in West Valley City apartment fire

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, April 1, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — First responders are on the scene of an early morning apartment fire in West Valley City.

The two-alarm blaze at the Apartments at Decker Lake, 2184 W. 3100 South, was first reported at about 2 a.m. with a West Valley City police officer confirming the complex was engulfed in flames.

Dozens of residents fled the fire, which heavily damaged the apartment complex while threatening two other nearby apartment buildings.

Rescuers scrambled to save one man who was trapped in a second-floor apartment. He managed to escape without serious injuries.

Firefighters were still battling the stubborn fire 90 minutes after it was first reported.

  1. I live in this complex. Currently trying to assess the needs of the affected residents (fortunately my building was safe). Does anyone know if the Red Cross has already been contacted? Is there a clothing or shelter need? If anyone finds anything out please e-mail me [email protected]
