BYU student in critical condition after falling from fourth floor inside Tanner Building

PROVO, Utah, Dec. 3, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A Brigham Young University student is in critical condition after she fell from the fourth floor of the Tanner Building Monday morning.

BYU police officials said the incident occurred at approximately 9 a.m. inside the Tanner Building, part of the J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott School of Business.

The woman was transported to Utah Valley Hospital in critical condition, officials said.

At this time it’s not clear whether the woman fell or jumped.

Several people witnessed the fall, police said.

BYU tweeted at 10:45 a.m.: “This morning a tragic incident occurred in the Tanner Building involving one of our students. Help is available to our campus community. Counselors are available at 750 Tanner Building and at the Counseling Center at 1500 Wilkinson Student Center.”

A follow-up tweet said all classes in the Tanner Building are cancelled Monday and the building is closed for the remainder of the day.
