MILLCREEK, Utah, June 13, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Detectives with Unified Police are trying to identify a suspect who used a stolen car to steal money from a change machine at a car wash on June 6 in Millcreek.

Officers patrolling the area just before 6 a.m. observed a green Subaru abandoned in the parking lot of The Car Wash located at 4040 S. Highland Dr.

When officers arrived to inspect the vehicle, they noticed a tow chain connected from the rear of the car to a metal change machine. Officers determined the car had been used to pull the change machine out of the concrete pillar in the front of the car wash.

The Suburu had been reported stolen the night before.

Surveillance footage shows two vehicles arrive at the car wash together. The first suspect then used the Subaru to pull the change machine out of the pillar and break it. After collecting the money, the suspect ran on foot where he was met, off camera, by the driver of the other vehicle.

UPD detectives are now releasing the surveillance video in hopes that someone might be able to identify the suspects based on the first man’s mannerisms, movements and build.

Anyone who has information as to the identity of the suspects is asked to call the UPD Millcreek Precinct Street Crimes Unit directly at 385-468-9635.
