PAROWAN, UTAH – July 29, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Utah Highway Patrol said a Colorado man died after rolling his vehicle on I-15 near Parowan Monday morning.

Troopers were called to the scene of an accident around 7:30 a.m Monday involving a silver 2005 GMS Envoy that had rolled off the side of the freeway. Investigators determined that the marks left at the scene indicate the driver may have fallen asleep or been distracted as he drove off the left side of the roadway. In an attempt to over correct to the right, it appears he then swerved back to the left before running off the road and overturning more than three times. The vehicle eventually came to rest on it’s side.

When emergency crews arrived, the driver, identified as Gary Gredd Prutch, 67, of Centennial, CO., was already deceased .

The passenger’s right leg had been trapped under the door before crews arrived. The passenger was transported by helicopter to a St. George Hospital, with his condition unknown.

Troopers believe speed may have also played a factor.
