SPRINGVILLE, Utah, Jan. 18, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Conservation officers with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect or suspects in the illegal killing of more than 30 ducks and geese.

A news release issued Friday states that on Monday, a resident called local conservation officers to report the dead waterfowl along Spring Creek Place Road in Springville.

When officers went to the scene, they found more than 30 ducks and geese along the waterway between Flow Serve and the Little Giant Ladder plant, the news release says.

Many of the ducks were domestic, but some were wild birds.

“Officers found that several of the ducks had most likely been shot with a pellet gun,” the release continues. “Officers were unable to determine the cause of death of all the birds located as they were in various stages of decay. It does indicate, however, that this may have been an ongoing occurrence.”

Anyone who has any information that could help in the investigation is encouraged to call the Utah Turn-in-a-Poacher hotline at 1-800-662-3337.

“Rewards are available and requests for confidentiality are honored,” the news release says.
