BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah, June 17, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — An unknown number of cows were injured when a semi trailer rolled on southbound State Route 42 in Box Elder County Monday afternoon.

Southbound SR-42 is closed at mile post 3 west of Snowville, three miles south of the Idaho state line, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Nick Street told Gephardt Daily.

The semi was hauling approximately 140 cows, when the trailer rolled, possibly due to being overloaded, Street said.

Some of those cows were injured, Street said, but it’s not clear exactly how many.

The driver was shaken up but not injured, he added.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Street said it’s likely because the incident happened on a fairly remote road that officials will be able to direct traffic around the crash site and there won’t be major delays.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
