TAYLORSVILLE, Utah, Sept. 2, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Fire crews from three agencies responded to a mobile home fire on Mount Tuscarora Drive late Saturday night.

Keith Garner, public information officer for Unified Fire Authority, told Gephardt Daily the three occupants of the mobile home, at 794 Mount Tuscarora Drive, were able to self-evacuate and call 911.

When firefighters arrived, a little after 10:30 p.m., the structure was fully engulfed.

Garner said it appears that the home is a total loss, but the exterior is still sound. He said a building inspector was en route to the scene to determine if there are any issues with the property.

No humans were injured as a result of this fire, but one cat was unaccounted for.

An investigator at the scene said the cause of the blaze could have been electrical or something to do with the air-conditioning, which is common this time of year, but so far the exact cause is not known, Garner said.

Structures on both sides of the burning mobile home were threatened, but Garner said firefighters were able to get hose lines to the structures to protect them and no damage occurred.

The Red Cross was on the way to assist the displaced residents.

In addition to Unified Fire Authority, crews from West Valley City and South Salt Lake fire departments responded.

“It took a lot of manpower and water,” Garner said, “but they got it knocked down quickly.”
