SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, April 17, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Crews are responding to six water main breaks across Salt Lake City and Millcreek Wednesday morning.

A series of tweets from Salt Lake City Public Utilities at approximately 7 a.m. said the causes are under investigation; crews have isolated a malfunctioning pressure reduction valve at 2300 E. 2700 South in Millcreek and removed it from service as several nearby water main breaks are repaired.

The six breaks are at:

  • 3200 S. Highland Drive, where one southbound lane is open
  • 3017 S. 2000 East, where one northbound lane is open
  • 1704 E. Millcreek Way
  • 2977 S. 1400 East
  • 1337 E. Kensington Ave.
  • 1280 E. Crystal Ave.

The tweets did not mention road closures related to the latter four breaks.

Drivers are being advised to avoid the areas if possible.

In some areas, water has been turned off, while in others, water pressure has been “throttled” but is still operating, one tweet said. This means water pressure has been reduced through a partially closed valve.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
