SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, March 25, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Interstate 15 northbound at 800 South has reopened after emergency repair work to the bridge deck.

A Sunday morning tweet from the Utah Department of Transportation said: “Crews are doing emergency repair work to the bridge deck on I-15 northbound over 800 South in Salt Lake City.”

The problem was first reported by a Utah state trooper who noticed an unusually large pot hole on the surface of the bridge where the highway crosses 800 South. The hole was so big, repair crews said they could see the surface of 800 South some 30 feet below.

The freeway was fully open by 6:15 a.m. Monday.

The damage was caused by the extreme winter, according to officials.
