SOUTH JORDAN, Utah, March 3, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A family of five was displaced Thursday by a house fire in South Jordan.

South Jordan Fire battalion chief Brian Allred said the initial call about the fire, at 10305 S. 1435 West, came in at 11:46 a.m.

“We were dispatched to a report of a neighbor smelling smoke,” said Allred. “An initial unit responded and upgraded to a full-alarm assignment. They had smoke in the residence and it rapidly progressed to a fire.

“Eight fire units and 25 personnel are on the scene. They were able to control the fire and quickly knock it down.”

Allred said the cause is still under investigation, but initial evidence suggests the fire began on the second floor. Nobody was home at the time of the blaze, but the family is displaced and the Red Cross responded to help with relocation.

We will have more on this developing story as information becomes available.
