Firefighters knock down flames in Kearns residence

KEARNS, Utah, May 16, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Firefighters responded to a residential fire in Kearns on Tuesday evening and were able to knock down the fire quickly.

The call came to dispatch at 6:25 p.m., according to information from the Unified Fire Authority. Crews were on the scene, near 50th South and 5200 South, within five minutes, and found heavy smoke billowing from the single-family residence.

Crews from the UFA and from the West Valley Fire Department entered the building at 6:32, and found the flames limited to a small area. The fire was out by 6:40 p.m.

No injuries were reported in connection with the fire. Investigators were later called to the scene to determine the cause of the fire. They estimated the fire did about $50,000 in damage.
