SLC Fire Department Seeks Arson Suspect in House Fire That Injured Cats
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – July 15, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) -SLC Fire Department investigators need the public’s help in locating an arson suspect and a person of interest in connection with a house fire at 1135 W. Arapahoe Ave. on Friday, July 10.
The suspect is 30-year-old Apollo Adams, who had rented a room in the house prior to recently being evicted. He was seen near the back of the house moments before the fire started. He was last seen driving a dark-colored sedan, possibly a Mercury. He is known to frequent the Glendale area in Salt Lake City, as well as parts of Magna.
Alicia Green, 30, is a person of interest in the case. Investigators believe she may have knowledge of Adams’ actions and whereabouts. She is known to frequent West Valley and Ogden.
The house fire caused severe damage to the backside and attic of the house. The three occupants of the home were inside at the time of the fire and evacuated the house without suffering injuries.
Firefighters also rescued the homeowner’s two gray cats and used a specially-sized oxygen mask to revive them.
Homeowner Skot Thomas was relieved but still in shock when he talked with Gephardt Daily. “Everybody made it out. Kitties are ok. It’s just, this is not the right way to start a day,” said Thomas.
Thomas said at the time that recent “drama” in the home involving his tenants might have led to arson.
Neighbors told Thomas that, “there were two women and a male that were seen breaking into the back area of the house and then flames. So we’re pretty sure that it’s an arson situation.”
