OGDEN, Utah, Nov. 26, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Highway Patrol has announced funeral arrangements for fallen Trooper Eric Ellsworth, who died this week, four days after a Nov. 18 accident suffered in the line of duty.
Ellsworth, 36 and a resident of Brigham City, was in rural Garland, at the site of a low-hanging power line. He was trying to alert the driver of a semi to the danger ahead when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old girl, who didn’t see him.
Ellsworth remained hospitalized in extremely critical condition, and died on Tuesday, Nov. 22. A full honor guard transported the trooper’s body from Murray to Salt Lake City, then to Ogden on Saturday. To see video and read the story, click here.
