UINTAH COUNTY, Utah, July 14, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — The Grizzly Ridge Fire in Ashley National Forest’s Vernal Ranger District has grown to 23 acres.

The wildfire, discovered Monday afternoon in Uintah County, was originally estimated at 1.5 acres.

“Fire activity calmed overnight, but internal hot spots continued to burn,” says a statement shared by Ashley National Forest.

“Additional aerial and ground resources have been ordered and are expected to arrive this afternoon and tomorrow morning. Crews continue to work directly to control the fire. A priority of today’s operations is to protect communication and safety infrastructure on Grizzly Ridge.

“No closures are in place at this time. Dispersed campers in the vicinity of Grizzly Ridge and Bassett Springs are encouraged to relocate. Residents of Deer Lodge will be notified by local law enforcement of any evacuations.”

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, the statement says.
