WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, July 14, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — West Valley City Fire crews responded to a fire at a duplex Tuesday afternoon.
“WVCFD crews were called out to a house fire near 4100 South and 2700 West after reports of smoke,” a department statement says.
“Crews found a fire in the basement, and were able to knock it down quickly. They also rescued a cat from inside the house which is reported to be in good condition.
“No injuries were reported, and damaged is estimated to be about $200,000.”
The side of the home where the fire was located was declared uninhabitable.
“The cause is believed to have been electrical,” the WVCFD statement says.
“Thanks to South Salt Lake and Unified Fire crews who assisted us.”
