SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, April 7, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A high-speed chase along I-15 from the south end of Davis County to 9000 South in Salt Lake County slowed the Thursday morning commute while Utah Highway Patrol officers pursued a suspected DUI driver.

UHP Sgt. Todd Royce says the chase began around 5:30 a.m. when a trooper tried to pull over a Black Audi weaving between lanes on southbound I-15. When the driver spotted the trooper’s lights, the chase began reaching speeds of up to 100 miles per hour.

Royce confirmed the chase ended when police spiked the driver’s tires and did a pit maneuver near the 9000 South exit on I-15 southbound.

The car was initially stopped in the center of the highway while officers got the suspect out and arrested him.

The driver was later booked into the Davis County Jail on suspicion of speeding, reckless driving, fleeing and DUI.
