UTAH/ARIZONA, July 4, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Interstate 15 in Arizona about three miles south of the Utah state line has reopened after water was dropped on a brush fire Thursday afternoon.

A tweet from the Arizona Department of Public Safety at 4 p.m. said that near mile post 26, traffic was stopped in both directions “for a helicopter to drop water on a brush fire. This is just southwest of Black Rock Road.”

Just after 4:30 p.m., a follow up tweet said both directions of I-15 had reopened.

The fire began when a commercial vehicle lost a 48-foot trailer, which started a large brush fire, according to Arizona Department of Public Safety officials.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
