MILLARD COUNTY, Utah, July 25, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — A series of crashes Sunday afternoon east of Kanosh in Millard County have shut down Interstate 15 in both directions at milepost 152, and at least one fatality has been reported.
Utah Highway Patrol said northbound traffic is partially open, but southbound traffic in the area will be closed for a significant amount of time.
UHP said on Facebook that the crash happened just before 5 p.m. between the Fillmore and Kanosh exits.
“A sandstorm in Millard County led to possible fatalities and injured motorists in a series of crashes Sunday afternoon east of Kanosh,” the post said. “The Utah Highway Patrol summoned troopers from Richfield and Beaver to assist.”
Multiple ground and air ambulances also responded to transport victims.
Drivers are advised to use the following alternative routes:
- Southbound motorists can exit at Scipio and take U.S. 50 toward Richfield.
- Northbound motorists can take I-70
