Inmate escapes from Beaver County Jail, apprehended shortly after

BEAVER COUNTY, Utah, Nov. 18, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — An inmate escaped from Beaver County Jail Saturday evening– but was apprehended shortly after.

The Utah Department of Corrections said in a news release the man has been identified as state inmate Michael Vieyra, 26.

“A review is being conducted by Beaver County and the Utah Department of Corrections,” the news release said. “UDC conducts regular inspections of all county jails with which it contracts and has confidence in the management of these jails.”

Officials did not say how Vieyra escaped or where he was found.

More details will follow as both the UDC and the Beaver County Sheriff’s Office review the incident, the news release said.

Vieyra has been incarcerated since April 2018 for convictions of third-degree charges of burglary of a dwelling and misdemeanor charges of possession of a dangerous weapon.
