IRON COUNTY, Utah, May 9, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — The Iron County Attorney’s Office announced this week that Jose Aguilar, 28, was sentenced to the Utah State Prison last month.

Aguilar was sentenced for aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony. His sentence was 10 years to life in prison.

“This was the maximum penalty under the plea agreement, which avoided requiring the young victim to testify in open court about deeply traumatic events,” the ICAO statement says.

“Ultimately, the Utah Board of Pardons will determine how long Aguilar will serve.”
