KANE COUNTY, Utah, Sept. 3, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — People visiting Lone Rock Beach, in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, over the holiday weekend noticed what appeared to be a vehicle in the water.
And that has led to the discovery of a truck, owned by a missing man last seen in late 2023, which contained human remains.
A statement from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office says the vehicle was spotted just under the waterline and was reported to officials.
By checking the VIN number, investigators determined it was the truck of Dennis Keith Dillinger, last seen at the Family Dollar Store in Kanab on Dec. 1, 2023. He was 54.
“On Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025, the vehicle was extracted from the water,” a Kane County Sheriff statement says.

“Human remains located in the vehicle were transported to the Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office for identification and further investigation into cause of death.”
This is still an open investigation, the news release says. The Kane County Sheriff’s Office will be handling the death investigation.
