MURRAY, Utah, Sept. 3, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — A pedestrian has died after she was struck by a TRAX train near the Murray Central Station.
UTA spokesman Gavin Gustafson confirmed to Gephardt Daily that the victim was an 18-year-old woman believed to be wearing headphones, which may have prevented her from hearing the train.
The incident happened at about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday near 5144 S. Cottonwood St.
“The person seemed to have simply stepped out in front of the train, and was not aware that it was coming,” Gustafson said.
She was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, and died of her injuries, he said.
“It appears to be a tragic accident that could have been prevented by avoiding distractions and following safe practices near trains and on platforms.”
The Red and Blue lines were expected to have significant delays of 20 to 30 minutes during the investigation. A bus bridge between Fashion Place and Murray North stations was announced.
