Update: South Salt Lake Police seek possible suspect vehicle after man found shot dead on Easter Sunday

SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, April 23, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The South Salt Lake Police Department is attempting to locate a suspect vehicle that was seen on surveillance video in the area before and after South Jordan man found shot to death in his car Easter Sunday.

Matthew Holt, 46, was found at about 2:45 p.m. Sunday inside his black Mazda near 3200 South and 900 West. He was in the driver’s seat, and his door was open.

Holt appeared to have died from a gunshot wound, which police do not believe was self-inflicted.

On Wednesday, police released photos of potential witnesses in the area on the morning of the man’s death. Police are asking for information from anyone in the area between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday who may have seen Holt or the black Mazda. The SSLPD is hoping that the people caught in the grainy photos, or anyone else who was in the area, can come forward with any details that may help with the investigation.

Police are also trying to locate a suspect vehicle that was seen on surveillance video in the area. The suspect vehicle is a 2012-2016 silver Chevrolet Sonic Hatchback that was in the area before and after the time that Holt was shot and killed.
