BLUFFDALE, Utah, Oct. 22, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — A 23-year-old man reportedly speeding in a Toyota Tacoma was arrested early Wednesday after he led Bluffdale police on a high-speed pursuit, struck multiple vehicles including a patrol car, and by officers was stopped with a spike strip and PIT maneuver.
The incident began at 2:11 a.m. after a Bluffdale Police officer doing stationary radar checks saw the gray pickup traveling at 68 MPH in a 45 MPH zone, according to an arrest document for Kaleb Harvey Parke.
“I pulled out behind the vehicle and attempted to perform a traffic stop by initiating my overhead lights,” the court document says.
“After this, the vehicle did not stop and picked up speed. At this point, I initiated a pursuit and I also turned on my siren.
“During the pursuit, I observed the vehicle strike a parked truck. I also observed the Toyota Tacoma strike a light pole, and then I observed the gray Toyota Tacoma strike another officer’s vehicle with the officer inside of it.”
A spike strip was placed, and the pickup “had its front tires spiked, and a PIT maneuver was performed on it, preventing it from moving further,” says the arrest document filed for Parke.
The officer approached Parke, who was alone in the vehicle.

“I observed the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath, I also observed he had bloodshot and watery eyes, and that his speech was heavily slurred. I placed Kaleb in handcuffs, checking for tightness and double-locking them.”
Parke was searched, and nothing of interest was found, the arrest document says.
“I then read Kaleb his rights per Miranda and, understanding these rights, he agreed to speak with me. I asked Kaleb if he had been drinking before this pursuit, and he informed me he had been.”
Parke was arrested for investigation of the alleged crimes of:
- Aggravated assault, a third-degree felony
- Fail to stop or respond at command of police, a third-degree felony
- Impaired driving, a class B misdemeanor
- Three counts of failure to comply with duties at vehicle accident/property damage, a class B misdemeanor
Parke, who told the officer he was visiting from another state, was ordered held without bail in the Salt Lake County jail.
