WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, July 7, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A man is facing kidnapping and assault charges after he allegedly assaulted a woman at a concert in West Valley City.

A probable cause statement from the 3rd District Court of Salt Lake County said Henry Blas, 44, is facing charges of aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony; aggravated assault, a first-degree felony; and intoxication, a class C misdemeanor.

The probable cause statement said that Blas took a female friend to the Santana concert at USANA Amphitheatre in West Valley City.

“Henry asked her to take shots of alcohol outside of the venue,” the statement said. “While outside, Henry became intoxicated and told the victim he wanted her to have his baby while sitting in his vehicle. The victim got out of the vehicle, stating that she needed to use the bathroom.”

Blas then exited the vehicle and came up behind the victim, wrapping both arms around her and told her she needed to return to the vehicle, the statement said.

“He released one arm and the victim felt what she thought was a firearm placed into her lower back,” the statement said. “She returned to the passenger side of the vehicle where Henry ripped off her shirt and shorts, exposed himself and told her she was going to give him a baby tonight.”

Passersby interrupted at that moment and while Blas was distracted, the victim kicked the suspect and was able to run away, the statement said.

Blas was taken into custody but was initially too intoxicated to interview.

He was transported to the Salt Lake County Jail with his bail set at $50,220.
