WASATCH COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 4, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A 50-year-old man died Sunday morning when the ATV he was riding was hit by a pickup truck on State Route 40 near Strawberry Reservoir.

The deceased has been identified as Norman Lange, of Rock Springs, Wyoming.

A Utah Highway Patrol news release states that the collision occurred at 10:36 a.m. as Lange was eastbound on SR-40 at milepost 38. Lange wasn’t wearing any protective gear, and the ATV was not registered for road use, UHP said.

A pickup truck pulling a 20-foot camping trailer was behind Lange.

“Lange left the roadway and entered the construction zone, where the shoulder had been roto-milled (approximately 6 inches lower than the road surface),” the news release said. “Lange re-entered the travel lane where he was hit by the pickup.”

He died of his injuries at the scene.

No one in the pickup truck was injured.
