LAKE POINT, UTAH – September 9, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A man’s life was saved seconds before his truck was engulfed by flames after crashing in Lake Point Thursday afternoon.
According to Sgt. Todd Royce, Utah Highway Patrol, 44-year-old Brian Harmon of Colorado, was involved in a single vehicle collision on SR-92 while pulling a box trailer when he drifted off to the side of the road and hit a pile of boulders and business signs.
“Bystanders who were at the motel nearby as well as a Tooele firefighter and a Utah Highway Patrol deputy were among the first to respond to the victim and safely pull him out of the cab of the truck,” said Royce. “He was rescued from the truck just before it engulfed in flames.”
Royce said the man was airlifted to a Salt Lake hospital with serious injuries but is expected to survive.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation however deputies believe a medical condition may have been a contributing factor.
