MOAB, Utah, April 25, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was arrested in Moab after police found 13 pounds of marijuana in his trailer, officials said.

A news release from Moab City Police Department Chief Jim Winder said officials responded to the area of 300 S. 100 East on a report of a possible illegal camper on April 20 just before 10:40 p.m.

“The officer found an unoccupied silver Volvo sedan and a small camp trailer parked at the location,” the news release said. “The officer looked through the trailer window and in plain view observed a large vacuum sealed bag containing a green leafy substance consistent with the odor and appearance of raw marijuana.”

Two additional officers arrived to assist and saw more evidence of marijuana possession in plain view inside the Volvo, the statement said. Officers maintained surveillance on the vehicles while preparing an affidavit for a search warrant.

Just after midnight, a man was seen approaching the vehicle and opening a door on the trailer.

Officers detained the subject, Evan Alexander Brown, 26, from Ontario, Canada.

“Brown was positively identified as the owner of both vehicles,” the news release said. “In a search incident to arrest, several baggies of marijuana were located on Brown’s person. Brown admitted to ‘giving away’ the marijuana while ‘out at the bar.'”

Upon receipt of the search warrant officers searched the Volvo and the camp trailer, locating approximately 13 pounds of marijuana as well as paraphernalia, including a scale and plastic baggies of various sizes.

Brown was transported to the Grand County Sheriff’s Office jail where he was booked on charges including possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of paraphernalia.
