Motorcyclist In Critical Condition After Draper Freeway Accident Identified

DRAPER, Utah, May 13, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A man who in critical condition after crashing his motorcycle on I-15 in Draper Friday afternoon has been identified.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Jacob Cox said the accident happened just before 2 p.m. when Chet Gibson, 72, of West Jordan was riding a motorcycle  traveling south near the Bangerter Highway off-ramp at 13200 South in Draper.

Traffic suddenly slowed down and the Gibson lost control of the bike. He was thrown from his bike and rolled into two lanes of travel as his motorcycle slid across the freeway and stopped against the left concrete barrier.

He was transported in to Intermountain Medical Center in extremely critical condition.

Cox said it does not appear any other vehicles were involved and Gibson was not wearing a helmet.
