MONTROSE, Colorado, May 13, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — The body of a missing Moab woman was found by search and rescue crews on Tuesday at Buckeye Reservoir in Colorado.

Kimberly Ann Burchell, 54, was last seen on May 4 at approximately 7 a.m. when she walked away from friends she was camping with in the Lion Creek area to go shed hunting.

Montrose County Sheriff’s Office received a call from San Juan County Sheriff’s Office on May 5 at 8 p.m. regarding the missing woman but said the rough terrain, remoteness of the area, and weather conditions made it difficult to thoroughly search the area. On Tuesday, deputies and the Montrose County Sheriff’s Posse resumed the search on foot and in vehicles and located a body matching Burchell’s description.

The body was turned over to the medical examiner who later confirmed her identity.

The Montrose County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death but does not consider it suspicious.
