DRAPER, Utah, Nov. 8, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — An inmate at Utah State Prison was transported to an area hospital after a suicide attempt Wednesday morning.

Kaitlin Felsted, public information officer for the Utah Department of Corrections, told Gephardt Daily the incident occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m.

The man who made the suicide attempt is housed in the Wasatch unit, which is for medium security male inmates, Felsted said, but there is no information yet on where the suicide attempt took place.

Felsted said staff initiated CPR and the man was breathing when he was transported by ground ambulance to the hospital.

The incident is under investigation and no further information was available.

Gephardt Daily does not usually report on suicides or suicide attempts unless they occur in public places or otherwise impact a community.

We will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
