Officials investigating ‘possible bomb threat’ at rest area on I-15 near Parowan

PAROWAN, Utah, June 22, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials are investigating a potential bomb threat at a rest area on Interstate 15 north of Parowan Tuesday afternoon.

“Rest area closed on I-15 southbound near mile post 88 for possible bomb threat in an abandoned vehicle,” said a tweet from Utah Highway Patrol at 5 p.m. “No threat to I-15.”

Bomb personnel and troopers are investigating the matter, the tweet said.

A follow-up tweet said: “Bomb personnel investigated the device and found that it was not a threat.”

The rest stop is approximately eight miles north of Parowan in Iron County.
