GOODYEAR. AZ -March 27, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – According to Arizona Republic ,  a 37-year-old man from Orem, Utah was arrested last night in Goodyear, Arizona in connection to the stabbing death his wife in front of his seven children.

John Leo Davis is suspected of stabbing his wife at least 13 times in the back Thursday night at their home in the Southwest Valley. Davis has a history of domestic violence dating back to the 1990s, according to court records.

Authorities have charged John Leo Davis Jr. with first-degree murder in the death of Michele Davis. He was being held on a $2 million bond Friday in Maricopa County jail.

Davis called Goodyear police, cried hysterically and apologized as he told dispatchers that he’d lost his mind and stabbed his wife, records show.

A Goodyear police spokeswoman said early Friday there were seven children in the home when the stabbing occurred. Court records indicate that a 14-year-old girl also called 911 and told authorities she saw Davis stab Michele and then clean the knife in the kitchen.

The incident started when Davis got angry at one of the kids for playing video games and hit them in the face, court records show. The child told Michele, who reportedly confronted her husband and an argument ensued.

The children saw Davis wield a knife and chase his 35-year-old wife from the kitchen to the front door where police later found her in a pool of blood, records show.

In 2008, police arrested Davis in Utah on suspicion of assault against Michele and child abuse, court records show. He was also reportedly arrested in 2006 and twice in the 1990s on suspicion of battery against a spouse.
