Pedestrian dead after struck in Cedar City parking lot

CEDAR CIT, Utah, July 3, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A man died after being struck by a vehicle in a Cedar City parking lot Friday afternoon.

The man was hit while in the Smith’s parking lot. It happened at about 12:10 p.m.

“Cedar City Police officers and emergency medical personnel arrived on scene and immediately provided medical assistance, including CPR, to the subject,” a Cedar City Police statement says.

“Despite their life-saving efforts, the male in his 70s succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.”

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that may assist investigators is encouraged to contact the Cedar Dispatch Center at 435-586-2955.
