WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah, Feb. 28, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has released more information after the fatal crash of a small plane Saturday morning.
The lone occupant of the plane was a 40-year-old woman from Boulder City, Nevada. Boulder City, known as the home of the Hoover Dam, is about 145 miles, by car, southwest of St. George.
The name of the woman has not been released, at her family’s request.
“Unfortunately, upon first responders arriving they found the pilot and sole occupant deceased,” the WCSO statement says.
“To respect the privacy of the family, at their request, we will not be releasing the name of the pilot.”
The investigation is still ongoing, and investigators with the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are on their way down to continue their investigation, the statement says.
“Due to this, the exact cause of the crash is not available at this time. The plane was flying with others. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office expresses our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the pilot.”
An earlier post from Hurricane Valley Fire & Rescue said crews were called to the scene, south of Hurricane near the Utah-Arizona border, shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday. Additional agents responded from the Bureau of Land Management and the Utah Department of Natural Resources.
Gephardt Daily will share additional information as it is released.
