Police Arrest Shooting Suspect in SLC

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – August 6, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Police arrested a recent shooting suspect at 900 S. 200 West in Salt Lake City yesterday at 7:15 p.m.

SLCPD said an officer recognized Miguel Gutierrez-Martinez, 18, a suspect in a recent shooting, driving in the area. The officer attempted to stop the car but it fled from him. Officers converged and followed Martinez until he ran a red light, collided with another vehicle and crashed into a power pole.

Officers were able to take Martinez and two passengers safely into custody. All parties were medically cleared at the scene. Martinez-Gutierrez was booked into jail on seven counts of discharge of a firearm, riot, failure to stop for officers, and reckless driving.
