OGDEN, Utah, Sept. 5, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Ogden police have identified the victim of a fatal motorcycle-car collision that happened Tuesday night.

The motorcyclist who suffered fatal injuries was Corey Thurgood, a 65-year-old North Ogden resident, an Ogden Police official told Gephardt Daily.

Thurgood was traveling north in the 900 North block of Washington Boulevard at about 8:25 p.m. when he struck a Toyota Camry that turned into his path.

Thurgood was not wearing a helmet, and “succumbed to his injuries while being transported via ambulance to a local hospital,” a statement by the Ogden Police Department said.

“An 87-year-old female driving a Toyota Camry southbound in the 800 North block of Washington Boulevard attempted to make a left hand turn onto 900 North Street,” the statement says.

“The female failed to see the motorcyclist and turned in front of him causing the motorcycle to strike her vehicle.”

“The accident is still currently under investigation. Impairment does not appear to be a factor at this time.”

The OPD official confirmed Wednesday to Gephardt Daily that the department did not expect to file charges against the Toyota driver because Thurgood’s death was an accident.
