SANDY, Utah, Nov. 30, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A 26-year-old man was transported to the hospital Saturday night after police say he was wounded in a “domestic-related shooting.”

Lt. Dean Carriger, with the Sandy Police Department, said the incident took place in the area of 2000 East and 11600 South at about 10:20 p.m.

“A husband and wife were arguing, and the argument became physical,” Carriger told Gephardt Daily.

“A 25-year-old female shot a 26-year-old male twice, and he was taken to (Intermountain Medical Center) in serious condition.” The man remained in serious condition Sunday morning.

Carriger said it was strictly a domestic situation and there is no danger to the public.

He emphasized that it is still very early in the investigation and officials currently are interviewing the involved parties to gather more information and determine if the shooting was justified.

Gephardt Daily will update this developing story as more details become known.
