SALT LAKE CITY, June 6, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are investigating a fatal Friday night auto-pedestrian crash that happened about 10:30 p.m. near 500 South 400 West in downtown Salt Lake City.
Sgt. Joshua Moody with SLCPD told Gephardt Daily at the scene, “Our officers were on a proactive enforcement spot here at the address when they witnessed an auto-pedestrian accident. They immediately responded and attempted to provide care for the victim.”
Fire and medical crews arrived, “and we did everything we could to try and save her. Unfortunately, she passed away,” Moody said.
“The driver did stay on scene and was cooperative with the investigation and is currently being interviewed by detectives.”
Investigators said the woman was crossing the roadway when she was struck, but the circumstances leading up to the collision remain under investigation.
“We know that they were crossing the road. We don’t know the circumstances that led up to the impact,” according to Moody.
