SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Feb. 15, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) ─ Salt Lake City police officers are looking for a man they say stole a UTA pickup truck to get away from officers who were seeking him in connection with an incident earlier on Monday morning.

A call reportedly came in at about 1:30 a.m. Monday about a fight involving guns at Bar-X, at 155 E. 200 South.

When officers arrived, the suspects had left, but witnesses provided identification of their car, and SLCPD officers stopped a vehicle fitting that description a few blocks away.

“They pulled over the car, but a passenger ran away,” said SLCPD Lt. James Tracy, adding that the driver was arrested.

“Officers set up a containment area, but that individual broke out of it, and stole a pickup truck at gunpoint.”

Tracey said he believed the UTA employees who were assigned to the pickup were working nearby, and not in the truck, when it was taken.

Police have described the suspect at large as a Hispanic male in his early 20s. He was last seen wearing camouflage pants and a dark hoodie. The missing UTA truck has the government license plate number 209 268 EX.

Those with information about the incident are asked to call 801-799-3000.
