WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah, May 18, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — Firefighters had to extricate a startled pup caught in a fence amid noise complaints.

Hurricane Valley Fire and Rescue responded after the dog frightened by fireworks became wedged in a fence while trying to flee. “Thankfully, crews were able to safely free the dog and it was not injured.”

Hurricane’s head animal control officer, who knew the poor ensnared pooch, responded to the Sunday online post with kudos. “Thank you all so very much,” said Jen Jarvis. “I was the animal control officer who came out with you on this.

“I wouldn’t have been able to help Penny (the frightened dog) like that. You guys are awesome! Appreciate all you do.

Many complained about the noise, apparently ongoing. “Why the heck were there fireworks? asked one.

“Stupid neighbors doing fireworks in the middle of the day on a weekday,” said another. “No where near the 4th of July.”

Others, noting the fireworks violations had been reported to authorities, argued for fines and imprisonment. “Severe, lengthy sentences and pay a ton in victims’ reparations!
