PRICE, Utah, Dec. 5, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Price City police officials are reminding businesses and individuals to be on alert after numerous reports of counterfeit currency.

“With the holiday season upon us, we would like to remind area businesses of the importance of checking all currency that is presented to them,” said a Facebook post from Price City Police Department. “Over the last week, the Price City PD has taken numerous reports on counterfeit currency that has been passed at several local businesses.”

The counterfeit bills being passed are in denominations including $1 bills, $5 bills, $10 bills, $20 bills and $50 bills, the post said. The counterfeit bills are easily identifiable as there are certain security indicators that are missing but they are being passed at times when stores are busy and/or the clerks are distracted. “We would ask all area businesses, as well as the public in general, to be vigilant in checking any U.S. currency that is presented to you,” the post said. “We are also looking for any information on the person or persons who have been passing the counterfeit bills in Price City as there are currently several active cases. If anyone has information regarding the person or persons responsible, please contact the Price City Police Department.”
