GARFIELD COUNTY, Utah, Nov. 10, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) – A Provo firefighter has been killed in a southern Utah hiking accident.
According to an online statement by the Provo Fire Department, Aaron White, 39, a firefighter and paramedic, died Saturday, Nov. 9, in the Escalante area.
White also worked part time for the Mapleton Fire Department.
The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that White was hiking with two others on the Bighorn Canyon Trail when he fell an estimated 30 to 50 feet.
The Provo Fire Department’s statement described White as a valuable member of their team.
“His positive attitude and infectious smile were a daily inspiration. His absence will be keenly felt. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.”
